Mental Health Awareness Month at DHWC

April showers tend to bring May flowers. We also see an uptick of all of the delightful Justin Timberlake/N*SYNC memes around this time of year (love this for us!).

May is also Mental Health Awareness month, and here at Diversified Health and Wellness Center, we offer an array of mental health as well as holistic healing services for all of your health related wants and needs. We strive to make these services not only accessible, but also affordable to the Greater St. Louis community. We believe in treating the body as a whole rather than focusing on bits and pieces; we look at the bigger picture, if you will!

It's important to prioritize your mental health at all times rather than specifically one month of the year. Here are some ways to put yourself first and develop your self-care:

  • Seeing a therapist regularly (for both the good and tough parts of life!)

  • Moving your body for at least 10-30 minutes per day; staying active and keeping those muscles alive!

  • Drinking plenty of water during the day (if you don't like plain water, add some delicious flavoring! I mean... it's still hydration, right?)

  • Taking some time away from work, allowing yourself breaks to decompress and hitting the "refresh" button on yourself

  • Setting appropriate boundaries with others and learning to say "no" to things!

  • Scheduling a massage to work the tension of out your body

  • Nourishing your body with foods that fuel you and keep you energized throughout the day

While this is certainly not an exhaustive list of taking care of yourself, it is a good place to start! Take some time to focus on your health and wellness every month; be selfish, put your well-being first.
