Graduate Intern

I believe healing begins with safety and compassion. I aim to create a space where clients can show up with their full self and feel understood, supported, and encouraged. I believe many of us carry burdens, such as stress, shame, and self-doubt; and these struggles are lessened as we receive empathy and learn to treat ourselves with kindness. My goal is to help clients develop self-trust, self-compassion, and an internal sense of safety.

This is my second career, and I bring to counseling my forty plus years of life experience. I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Truman State University in 2006 and a Master in Teaching from Maryville University in 2008. I worked as a middle school and high school art teacher for seven years. I am divorced and I am a proud mother of two, elementary-age children.

I feel very fortunate to be able to transition to a career in counseling, and I am currently working towards a Master in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Missouri Baptist University. In July 2025, I was certified in Psychological First Aid, and I am passionate about helping individuals recover from all types of traumas.

As a counselor, I would like to continue working with adolescents, as they uncover who they are and how they would like to move about in the world. I am a strong supporter of the LGBTQIA+ community and diversity. My heart bends towards inclusion and I strive for a multicultural approach to counseling. I also see myself working with women, especially those navigating challenges and going through life transitions.

Counseling is a place to bring your whole self, the parts that feel pleasant and those that feel challenging. I think all parts are valuable and can help an individual live a calm, curious, and confident life.
