I never expected my journey would lead me to counseling.

I have a colorful professional background, the majority of which is blue collar. I spent a decade working in the oilfield and driving a semi. I learned that work is rarely glamorous, adversity is a constant, and sometimes just making it through the day, or even the hour, is the accomplishment.

Before and during that time I also served in the United States Army Reserve as a Petroleum Specialist. I still currently serve as an active Talent Acquisition Specialist for medical professionals. Combined I am at almost 17 years total service. My time in the military has taught me many things but the most important lessons have been leadership, stress management, responsibility, sacrifice, pride in myself, pride in others, identity, sacrifice, how to transition from one phase to the next, and how important having a supportive team actually is when life gets tough.

When I first considered counseling as a career my background made me doubt that I had anything to offer. I am just a blue collar kid from rural Oklahoma. My journey thus far has taken those doubts and what I saw as detriments and turned them into optimism and strengths to help others.

I believe my unconventional path is one of my greatest strengths as a counselor. I've worked alongside people from different backgrounds, experienced demanding environments, made mistakes, learned from them, and experienced firsthand that life rarely follows a straight line.

My goal isn't to tell people how they should live. My goal is to help them discover what works for them.

I work with a broad range of concerns, including military and veteran issues, anxiety, stress, trauma, PTSD, self-esteem, identity, life purpose, men's issues, job loss, guilt, forgiveness, helplessness, control, ADHD, behavioral concerns, anger, aggression, college concerns, codependency, personality-related concerns, athletes, crises, and major life transitions.

Most importantly, I believe every person has strengths. Even when they can't see them themselves.

I'm new to counseling, but I'm not new to adversity, change, responsibility, or the human struggle.

I am looking forward to being part of your team. I don’t have every answer but I am willing to learn and help people take their next step on their healing journey.
