Graduate Intern

I wholeheartedly believe in the power of a strong, trusting relationship between counselor and client to foster meaningful, lasting change. I view counseling as a collaborative partnership—one where clients feel empowered to express their concerns, explore solutions, and work toward their goals. I strive to be an ally to each person I work with, welcoming individuals from all backgrounds, identities, and orientations.

With an empathetic, solution-focused approach, I bring a passion for helping others understand themselves and navigate life’s challenges. I have a particular interest in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which supports clients in recognizing and reshaping unhelpful thought and behavior patterns. Gaining insight into these patterns can open the door to growth, healing, and renewed self-understanding.

My professional background includes over 30 years in education, including 20 years as a high school principal, where I worked closely with students, families, and staff. These experiences have equipped me with deep insight into career counseling, adolescent development, and the complex dynamics of family systems and transitions. As the wife and mother of multiple first responders, I have also developed a strong understanding of how trauma affects both mind and body. I incorporate a holistic perspective into my work, helping clients manage somatic symptoms and stress responses related to trauma.

In addition, I am committed to creating an inclusive, affirming space for clients exploring their identities or coping with discrimination and marginalization.

I hold a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Maryville University, a Master’s in School Administration from Southern Illinois University, and a Bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Missouri. I am currently completing clinical hours toward a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Lindenwood University, in pursuit of my Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) credential.

I am honored to be part of the team at Diversified Health and Wellness Center and look forward to supporting our community through compassionate, evidence-based mental health care.
