Deana Tice

LPC

My name is Deana Tice, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I have been a secondary level English teacher for 24 years and a school counselor for the past 5 years. During this time, I helped a wide range of students and their families navigate the challenges they have faced to help them find their own path to success and independence.

My sessions use a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Client-Centered Therapy to help my clients feel empowered and gain confidence. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps identify unhelpful thoughts, challenge their validity, and replace them. Solution-Focused Therapy is a brief, goal-oriented approach that emphasizes finding solutions to current problems rather than dwelling on past issues. Client-Centered Therapy creates a supportive and empathetic environment for personal growth.

Young adults often struggle in a world that can be fraught with social media pitfalls which can lead to emotional distress. Additionally, the many distractions and demands on our time can cause us to lose focus. Each individual can benefit from using a coping skill that is right for them. Learning how to use breathing exercises can slow down our thinking and help us find inner calm. Other strategies we explore are journaling, guided imagery, exercise, and muscle relaxation.

Therapy can help young people and their parents as they navigate the challenges of adolescence while strengthening and improving family engagement. I look forward to working with adolescents, adults, and families to help them recognize and achieve their goals to find their own independence and joy.
