Lauren Josten

Life has a way of pushing us further from our authentic selves as we pursue connections and experiences we believe will make us whole. Oftentimes, we miss the most important connection in this pursuit--the one we have with ourselves. Our worldview is often heavily influenced by the experiences we have endured, particularly as children. While we may not be responsible for the things that have happened to us, we are responsible for recognizing how we respond to these experiences in the present, which then impacts our day to day and future. As a therapist, my goal is to join forces with my clients as we encounter some of life’s biggest obstacles. Through my collaborative, educational and warm approach, my goal is centered around helping my clients understand, develop and maintain a more cohesive sense of self, enabling them to journey through life from a more comfortable and empowered stance.

I have worked extensively with adults struggling with eating disorders, anger management, developmental trauma and traumatic stress, anxiety, and mood disorders in both intensive treatment and outpatient settings. I have received training in modalities including Somatic Experiencing, play therapy and drama therapy, and utilize an eclectic therapeutic approach including sand tray, Internal Family Systems, mindfulness practices, developmental psychology and group therapy, among others.

I believe it is vital to the therapeutic process to feel a genuine sense of connection and support. I strive to create a therapeutic environment that meets my clients’ individual needs and allows for positive change.
